Current Boundaries

The CD contains the current (post-redistricting) boundaries for the U.S. Senate and House and the upper and lower chambers of the state legislatures.

Census Data

For each district you will find 2000 Census data including population, sex, age, race, ethnicity, and household statistics. Use this information to identify districts that have a particular profile such as a high elderly population, concentrations of minorities, or inadequate housing.

Details About Current Elected Officials

We have included information about the elected official or officials for each district. Because some districts have more than one member and each state has two U.S. senators, the Legislative Districts Info Tool lets you find all of the elected state and federal officials for any location in the United States. Data for each state and federal legislator includes district number and name, member’s name, party, and contact infomation including address, phone, e-mail, and web site. Member information for federal legislators also includes member’s fax, home town, birth date, occupation, education, terms in office, and chief of staff.

Sophisticated Mapping and Analytical Tools

Use your data with the Legislative Districts Data CD and Caliper’s geographic information system (GIS) software to implement your strategies. For example, add your facilities to a map and associate sales, expenditures, or number of employees with each district. Then create maps and analyze your data spatially to determine where to target your resources and where your efforts can be expected to have the greatest impact.

Caliper GIS software products include many valuable geographic layers that you can use in conjunction with the legislative districts. For example, you can find all of the ZIP Codes within a particular district for a targeted mailing.

The Legislative Districts Data CD is available nationwide for $2,995 or for a single state for $495. It works with all current versions of Caliper’s GIS software products including Maptitude®, Maptitude for Redistricting, Maptitude for Precinct and Election Management, Political Maptitude, and TransCAD®.
