Maptitude allows you to plot your locations based on any populated place in the world (village, town, city), or to view your data by country or province. Maptitude comes packed with data, including extensive world geography such as:
- Country boundaries
- Cities and capitals
- Populated places and built-up areas
- Place gazetteer
- Airports, highways, and railroads
- Landmarks
- Elevation points and contours
- 5-minute Digital Elevation Model (DEM)
- Rivers, lakes, and glaciers
- Provinces for many countries
These international mapping software databases included with Maptitude allow you to create effective maps of any region in the world (Figure 1). In addition, the Download Free Layers Add-In provides easy access to no-cost web-based data sources. This tool downloads detailed data including many roads, landmarks, natural features, and railways for Europe and postal codes for numerous countries.

In addition to the detailed data for the USA that comes with Maptitude, Caliper also offers competitively priced datasets that are available for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom (Figure 2). You can further enhance your maps by using the included tools for accessing free imagery from the World Wide Web. With a single mouse click you can download aerial imagery for anywhere in the world. (Figure 3)

Maptitude also has GPS support, allowing you to track your location anywhere in the world, perform field data collection, or create and edit geographic files.
