How can I make my own geography appear in a hierarchy?

In order for Maptitude P&E to assume a hierarchical relationship, two conditions must be met:

  1. All layers in the hierarchy must be referenced in the base layer. For instance, if you would like to have a block-vtd-county relationship in your own data, the base layer (block) should contain the fields VTD and County, the layer VTD should contain the field VTD, and the layer County should contain the field County. Further, none of the fields in the hierarchical layers (VTD and County in the previous example) can have null values.
  2. File names should match up with what we send. For instance, it is looking for the MCD file name to be ccmcd and the County filename to be cccntyt. The best way to change file names it to use Tools-Geographic File-Rename.
