release of Maptitude 4.8. This version has enhancements for mapmaking and
using imagery, and comes with updated US data.
Maptitude 4.8
has new tools that include the ability to download imagery from
TerraServer-USA. TerraServer-USA contains 3.3 terabytes of high-resolution
USGS aerial imagery and topographic maps that can be accessed by Maptitude
users with a single click. The imagery is automatically added to the current
map for any location in the USA. With 2005 Streets and 2006 ZIP Code point
data, users can accurately and easily find any location and acquire the
associated imagery. Recent color photos for major metropolitan areas of the
United States are delivered via TerraServer-USA and are critical for
business, planning and emergency response. This sub-meter (1/3 meter or
about 1 foot) high-resolution imagery is available for most of the US urban
population. Using the powerful editing capabilities of Maptitude, the
imagery can be used for creating and updating geographic information, such
as transportation networks, building footprints and land cover.
Maptitude 4.8 comes with new, attractive pre-styled maps for the world and
the US. These maps make it easy to create presentation-quality
visualizations. There is also a map template designed specifically for use
with images and which streamlines the production of maps that include aerial
photos.
