Caliper Releases TransModeler Version 1.1

NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS; October 23, 2006 – Caliper Corporation announced the immediate availability of the latest version of TransModeler, a revolutionary traffic simulation product for wide area traffic planning, traffic management, and emergency evacuation studies. TransModeler simulates the movements of vehicles at resolutions as fine as one tenth of a second fidelity and can do so over very wide areas or long transportation corridors. TransModeler is also a breakthrough geographic information system for traffic-related data including point to point dynamic travel times, congestion levels, and signal timings.

The new version implements more accurate driver behavior modeling, allowing more realistic simulation of heavily congested networks. There is improved modeling of lane changing and lane choice at toll plazas and enhanced merging behavior for highways. Version 1.1 also has improved simulation of drivers’ reactions to variable speed limit signs as well as lane use and road closure messages.

Caliper Corporation also announced that Caltrans, the California Department of Transportation, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet recently purchased multiple licenses of TransModeler for deployment throughout their respective states.

TransModeler is available for Microsoft Windows XP Professional, is compatible with TransCAD, Caliper’s travel demand forecasting software, and works with a wide range of other transportation and GIS software. Special promotional pricing is in effect for TransModeler through the end of 2006 for governmental users of TransCAD.

Caliper Corporation (www.caliper.com) is a leading developer of packaged and custom transportation and GIS products, including Maptitude and TransCAD. Caliper software products are used by more than 50,000 users in over 50 countries.
