Maptitude 5.0 is Now Shipping

NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS (USA) - Caliper Corporation is now shipping the latest version of TransCAD®, the world’s most capable and popular travel demand forecasting package. TransCAD is used to predict future traffic levels in major metropolitan regions and has applications in evacuation planning, public transportation, freight planning, vehicle routing, supply chain management, site location, drive time analysis, and spatial market analysis. TransCAD is also a powerful geographic information system (GIS) for all types of transportation-related data.

TransCAD 5 features unparalleled capabilities for travel demand modeling, evacuation planning, and myriad GIS applications in transportation. This new version incorporates powerful new traffic assignment algorithms for computing traffic flows more accurately and more rapidly, including a dynamic traffic assignment for modeling region-wide traffic levels at 5 or 10 minute intervals throughout an AM or PM peak period.

TransCAD 5 has a new engine for estimating and applying mode choice models, and a new intersection editor that is compatible with Caliper’s TransModeler® traffic simulation software.

GIS enhancements include the most powerful network editing ever, with comprehensive undo and redo for geographic features, data tables and matrices, a new map display manager, more flexible legends, improved thematic mapping, and native support for Esri personal geodatabases, MS Access, Excel 2007, and Google Earth.

TransCAD is .NET enabled, so that TransCAD can be scripted by any .NET capable language. The TransCAD’s GISDK scripting language now supports object-oriented programming making it easier than ever to program TransCAD extensions and add-ins with re-usable GISDK classes.

A greater number of key procedures in TransCAD 5 are multi-threaded and will automatically take advantage of the latest multi-core CPUs from Intel and AMD. This will result in significant speedups for running large applications.

TransCAD is the world’s most widely used travel demand modeling package with more than 7,500 users in 70 countries. In the U.S., it is the standard or predominant software package in more than 27 states and has been used for the largest models such as those for the New York, Los Angeles, Dallas-Ft. TransCAD 5 is available for Microsoft Windows XP Professional, and Vista, is compatible with TransModeler, Caliper's traffic simulation software, and works with a wide range of other transportation and GIS software.
