Caliper Conducts Seminars on Transportation Planning for Argentina Planning Agencies

NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS (USA) - Caliper Corporation, a worldwide leader in GIS, transportation, and mapping software, conducted a successful series of seminars in Argentina on August 13-15, 2008. TransCAD, a product used widely in South America for transportation planning, was presented during these workshops to regional planning agencies across Argentina.
 
TransCAD is developed by Caliper Corporation, and is the most widely used transportation planning software in the Americas. The series of meetings was made possible by a partnership involving the consulting firm ITTL, S.A. The meetings were held for four regional planning agencies to help them better understand how the tools provided by TransCAD offer solutions to the transportation problems faced in Argentinean cities. These agencies included: Rosario (Sante Fe), Salta (Salta), San Miguel de Tucaman (Tucaman), and Cordoba (Cordoba).

In conjunction with TransModeler, Caliper’s powerful and versatile traffic simulation package, planners were shown how they can display 2D and 3D visualizations of their study areas, allowing them to assess the effects of infrastructure changes or fluctuations in transit demand and capacity.
