Caliper Corporation Announces Maptitude for Redistricting Extension for ArcGIS

NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS (USA) - Caliper
Corporation’s market-leading political redistricting software is now
available as an ArcGIS extension. According to Dr. Howard Simkowitz,
Caliper’s Director of Government Services, redistricters who prefer
Esri’s ArcGIS environment now have access to the same features,
ease-of-use, and analytical capabilities enjoyed by those using the
original Maptitude for Redistricting software. Redistricters who are
familiar with ArcGIS can master the extension in a few hours and use
it in combination with the myriad capabilities of ArcGIS, the most
widely used geographic information system software in the U.S.
The user interfaces in the two
versions are nearly indistinguishable, making it very easy to switch
from one to the other. “Some of our large state clients are
contemplating using copies of both native Maptitude for
Redistricting and the ArcGIS version,” said Dr. Simkowitz.
The Maptitude for Redistricting
Extension for ArcGIS includes the most powerful functionality
available for political redistricting and comes with the official
Census geography, relevant demographic data, and voting age data,
all stored in an Esri File Geodatabase. The intuitive interface is
one that any redistricter can understand and master. The software
can be used for redistricting electoral and administrative
jurisdictions at any level of government.
The Maptitude for Redistricting
Extension for ArcGIS will be especially suitable for county and city
governments, many of whom have major investments in ArcGIS
technology. Caliper offers special pricing to local governments
based on population size.
