| A Message for ArcView Users |
If your organization uses ArcView, here are some things to keep in mind when evaluating redistricting software:
The new version of Maptitude for Redistricting maps ArcView shapefiles. You can now map your shapefiles natively, without any file conversion. Change the display style, create themes, set labels, select features, and more all from within Maptitude! As before, you can also convert your shapefiles to the more efficient and compact Maptitude format. After you have built a plan, you can turn the plan's geographic layer into a shapefile, including all of the plan's data, for direct mapping in ArcView. Maptitude includes the same functionality for MapInfo Tab and Oracle Spatial files as well.
If you know how to use ArcView, you already know how to use Maptitude. ArcView users learn Maptitude very quickly. We believe that the Maptitude interface is more consistent and understandable.
Most of our redistricting clients were already ArcView users. Their reaction? -- They are ecstatic with Maptitude. Maptitude is full-featured desktop mapping and GIS software. It contains many more functions than ArcView, works faster, the geographic layers maintain full topology, and there are no add-ons to buy. It's all there in one package. Many of our redistricting clients are now using Maptitude instead of ArcView for their mapping and GIS projects.
These are all good reasons. Of course, the most important reason is that Maptitude for Redistricting is the best redistricting software-- by far. It's feature-complete and in use by a majority of state legislatures, political organizations, and public interest groups (many of whom are building statewide plans for some of the largest states). It has been extensively beta tested by the legislative offices in Georgia, Minnesota, Florida, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, California, and Kentucky, the Maryland Office of Planning, and the Republican National Committee. It is the easiest to use, the fastest, and the least expensive. Just ask any of our clients.
