Caliper Corporation Reports Strong Interest at TRB Tools of the Trade Conference

NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS (USA) - The Transportation Research Board sponsored the 12th National Conference on Transportation Planning for Small and Medium–Sized Communities "Tools of the Trade," held on September 22-24, 2010, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Tools of the Trade is a national conference providing ready-to-use, economical, and practical techniques for transportation planning professionals in small (under 50,000) and medium sized (50,000 to 250,000) communities. The conference explored information on the factors relating to the planning, development, programming, and implementation of multi-modal transportation facilities for small and medium-sized communities. Future research and implementation needs were also addressed.

Caliper staff presented three seminars to support this mission: "Application of a Combined Travel Demand and Microsimulation Model for a Small City," "A New Traffic Assignment Method for Small and Medium Communities," and "Developing a Subregional Model Tool for the Southern California Association of Governments." These are available in the Caliper Mapping Software Library.

The Caliper booth saw high traffic and strong interest in the market-leading TransCAD and TransModeler software products, where attendees were able to ask questions and see live demonstrations of these cutting-edge applications.
