Maps

• Scale relates the size of features on the map to their actual size
• Large scale: map features look large. 1:1,200, or 1"=100', is large scale
• Small scale: map features look small. 1:5,000,000, or about 1"=80 miles, is small scale
• Center: middle of the map. With the scale, determines the area covered by the map
