Maptitude® On-Line Training

Introductory Maptitude: Lesson 2

Maps

2.28 Using Styles and Labels: Manual Labels
  • Click in the main toolbox and click on a map feature for the Manual Labels dialog box
  • You can choose whether manual labels get bigger or smaller as you zoom in and out, or whether they stay the same size
  • Add manual labels to unlabeled features as a last step to touch up a map design
  • To convert all of the automatic labels to manual labels (text annotations), choose Map-Convert Labels and click Yes

Manual labels are added to the map as freehand items, which you can edit, move, rotate, or customize using different fonts and colors. Freehand items can be edited using the Pointer tool Pointer.

When you click on a feature, Maptitude places each label either at the point at which the cursor is located, or in the same place an automatic label would be placed (aligned with the feature). You control the placement of manual labels with the Edit-Preferences command.

When you change label settings, the changes always apply to the working layer. Set the working layer using the drop-down list on the toolbar.
