Maptitude® On-Line Training

Introductory Maptitude: Lesson 3

Themes & Legends

3.10 Dot-Density Themes
  • Each dot represents some count
  • You can have dots for more than one field, and use symbols other than dots

A dot-density theme uses dots or other symbols on the map to show the values of one or more numeric data fields. Each dot on a dot-density map represents some amount of data.

Dot-density themes can only be created on an area layer.

Maptitude uses on TrueType font symbol for each field you use in a dot-density theme. For each field, you can choose the symbol you want and customize the legend text.
