Tech Tip:
Creating Masks to Show Only Your Area of Interest Maptitude 2012 provides a new, and much faster, masking tool (see the training video). The new mask tool has been completely overhauled in Maptitude 2012, and allows you to quickly hide the portion of a may you do not wish to display. The following steps walk you through this task: 1. Choose File-New, choose Map from the New File dialog box, and click OK. This brings you to the Create-a-Map Wizard. 2. Choose the General Purpose Map option, then choose A County, type the name of a county (e.g., Cook IL) in the Name box, click Next, and click Finish. 3. Choose County as the working layer from the drop-down list on the toolbar. 4. If the Selection toolbar is not open, choose Tools-Selection. Click on the Selection toolbar to activate the Select by Pointing tool. 5. Click on a County to select it. This will be the county used for masking. 6. Choose Tools-Geographic Utilities-Mask. 7. Choose Selection from the Selection drop-down list. 8. Click OK. Maptitude creates the mask and adds it to the map so that only your County is visible. |
