Maptitude for Redistricting Training

Classroom Training:

Maptitude for Redistricting training is a three-day course that covers all of the redistricting features of the software. The first day is devoted to the key mapping features that are used when building a plan including creating maps, geographic layers, labels, themes, styles, freehand drawing tools, autoscale, manipulating attribute data, and printing maps and plans. The second day focuses on more technical GIS, mapping and database topics including selection sets, geocoding incumbents, combining race data using formula fields, statistics, geographic editing, joining political data to the geography, and disaggregating and aggregating data to other geographic layers. The third day is devoted to plan building and all the other redistricting features of the software.

Redistricting topics covered include:

• The redistricting toolbox and menus
• Creating and managing plans with the Plan Manager
• Using Plan Templates to create new plans
• Using Plan Snapshots to test various scenarios and restore a previous state
• Establishing Plan security
• Building a plan using multiple levels of geography
• Locking portions of a plan
• Exporting, importing and merging plans
• Creating reports
• Measures of compactness and verifying contiguity
• All other redistricting features.

Schedule:

• Sign-in at 8:45 AM
• Classes start at 9 AM
• Breaks at mid-morning and mid-afternoon
• One-hour break for lunch
• Classes end at 5 PM

Costs and registration:

• Classroom training at our headquarters in Newton, Massachusetts are $900 for three days
• Advance registration and payment are required

Once we have received your registration we will send you confirmation and charge you for attendance, at which point you can make travel plans. Please do not make travel plans until you have received confirmation of the training.

On-site Training:

Caliper also offers training at your site, where the lessons can be customized to meet your exact needs and be based on your data. The price for training at your site is $1,800 per day independent of class size, plus the instructor’s travel expenses.
