Home > Maptitude P & E > Tech Corner > Publishing Plans on the Internet Can I publish precinct maps, polling place maps, redistricting/reprecincting plans, and other maps and data on the Internet or my intranet? There are several ways to publish maps, redistricting/reprecincting plans, and data on the Internet and your intranet. The simplest way is to save your Maptitude maps, tables, figures, and layouts as JPEG files, which you can add to your HTML web pages. You could also print the maps to the Adobe PDF format and make those files available on your web site. The best way is to create interactive web applications where the user can zoom the map to any location and display the relevant information. Caliper has developed a ready-to-run custom application called Election Web Mapper. If you prefer to develop the site yourself, take a look at Maptitude for the Web. Maptitude for the Web is a special edition of Maptitude® Geographic Information System (GIS) for Windows. Maptitude for the Web includes all of the regular capabilities of Maptitude, plus special capabilities that make it easy to design, test and publish interactive map applications on your web site. Web applications are created from a Maptitude map and a Mapplication® (application template). Maptitude for the Web provides a special user interface that lets you combine a Maptitude map with a Mapplication to create a dynamic web application. Maptitude for the Web applications can be implemented as independent, interactive map applications, or they can be embedded within an existing web application to support end-user mapping requirements. Once created, Maptitude for the Web applications can be published on a server to be accessed by users on your organization’s intranet or on the World Wide Web. Click |
