Based on requests from our redistricting clients, we have created a number of custom reports including the following:
Metes and Bounds Custom Report – State Edition
The metes and bounds report creates a detailed description of the district boundaries in a plan. Caliper will customize the report to utilize the exact language and levels of political geography required in your bill. If done manually, a metes and bounds report takes months and months of staff time to complete and can be subject to numerous errors. Running the Maptitude metes and bounds report for all the New York congressional districts takes just a few minutes and the output is a one-to-one match with the Census Bureau's TIGER/Line file. The user has the option of reporting the TIGER/Line ID (TLID) for features that are not named. The user can then use Maptitude's Find function to zoom the map to the feature for further identification. The price for this report is $5,000. See a sample
Metes and Bounds Report – County Edition
The metes and bounds report county edition creates a detailed
description of the district boundaries in a plan. The output is similar
to the metes and bounds report – state edition. However, the plan must
be limited to one county, and the price does not include any
customization. The price for this report is $1,500.

Bill Writing Report
The bill writing report creates a detailed description of each district by listing the geographic components in the plan’s hierarchy (e.g., counties, VTDs, blocks; counties, tracts, blocks). The report is customized to your required language. The price for this report is $3,500. See a sample
Communities of Interest Report
A community of interest is a geographic area in which its residents have shared interests. A community of interest could be a town, a neighborhood, a school district, or any compact and contiguous area where the population is of the same race, language group, country of origin, or income group. The Communities of Interest Report analyzes the plan’s impact on these communities. The report provides a detailed listing of all the splits, indicating which communities are enclosed or split by district boundaries, with totals and percentages listed for user-selected demographic fields (e.g., population, white, black, native American, Hispanic, etc.). The first part of the report lists all communities in alphabetical order and the districts they are in. The second part of the report lists all communities by district. The listed areas may optionally be sorted by the values of an attribute field (e.g., county). You can also limit the list to those areas that are split by district boundaries. The third part of the report computes displays summary statistics on the splits including how many communities have and have not been split, the number of communities split into two pieces, three pieces, etc., and the total number of splits. The price for this report is $1,500. See a sample
Communities of Interest with District and County Statistics
The Communities of Interest with District and County Statistics report is an extension of the Communities of Interest report. It computes the effect that the districts have on the polygons in a “community” layer (e.g., municipalities) by comparing the population and selected demographics (e.g., White, Black) of each split polygon in the community layer to the demographics for the district that the split polygon is within. For example, if the report were run using the municipalities layer as the community of interest, it would list district population and demographic totals followed by the municipalities or municipality splits, grouped by county, that are in each district. The percentages listed for the municipality population and demographic fields are percentages of the district total for that field. The price for this report is $2,500. See a sample
Minority Balance Report
The Minority Balance report compares a particular demographic measure (e.g., black population) for a political entity (e.g., county) to the demographic for the portion of the political entity that is in a district. It is designed to reveal disparities in proportionate representation, and might show, for example, that the proportion of black population in the part of a county within District A is 50% less than the proportion of black population in the overall county. The price for this report is $3,500. See a sample
