2000 Census Profile Data from SF 3

Three demographic profiles based on the questions asked of a sample of housing units and persons in group quarters and compiled in Summary File 3 (SF 3) are included down to the tract level (also included for ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs), census places, MSAs, counties, and states). They are:

  • A  Profile of Selected Social Characteristics, also called DP-2, that contains variables that describe school enrollment, educational attainment, marital status, grandparents as caregivers, veteran status, disability of the civilian noninstitutionalized population, residence, nativity and place of birth, region of birth of the foreign born, language spoken at home, and ancestry.
  • A  Profile of Selected Economic Characteristics, also called DP-3, that contains 107 population variables that describe employment status, commuting to work, occupation, industry, class of worker, income, and poverty status.
  • A Profile of Selected Housing Characteristics, also called DP-4, that contains 97 housing variables that describe units in structure, year structure built, rooms, year householder moved into unit, vehicles available, house heating fuel, occupants per room, value, mortgage status and selected monthly owner costs, selected monthly owner costs as a percentage of household income, gross rent, and gross rent as a percentage of household income.

Map Editing
Copy and Paste Segments: You can copy segments from one line layer and paste them into another. If you have a line layer that needs updating, you can get the missing segments from another line layer.

Layouts
New option to either keep the shape of the map window or extend the map to fill the frame, when placing a map in a layout.
New option to change the size of items in a layout when the page size changes.

Miscellaneous
Feature Display Settings can set the style of area borders as well as their fill style.
New GISDK functions and updates to the GISDK on-line help files.
