Corporate Accountant

Full-time position at our headquarters: 1172 Beacon Street, Newton MA 02461 USA

Description:

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Accounting/Controller, the corporate accountant will become an integral part of Caliper Corporation’s team. The specialist will manage annual support and SAAS subscriptions for all major product lines. This is a highly independent and visible role requiring interactions with outside customers and senior management and creative thinking.

Qualifications:

• BS/BA in Accounting or equivalent
• 1-2 years of applicable accounting experience, preferably on a CPA track
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must have a "Can Do" attitude and ability to work independently
• Advance Excel skills required, experience with QuickBooks Enterprise and FileCenter a plus
• Positive attitude with ability to multi-task, effectively adapt and meet Caliper’s needs
• Understanding of US GAAP, including ASC 606, accounting principles with respect to Software, SaaS, and Professional Services revenue recognition

Responsibilities:

• Lead revenue operations and invoice entry into QuickBooks.
• Ensure compliance with PCI requirements.
• Assist with ASC 606 subject matter issues and maintenance of selling price calculations.
• Assist with proper recognition in accordance with IRS, GAAP, and the Company's accounting policies.
• Help evaluate current revenue processes, accounting, systems and procedures to identify areas for additional efficiencies.
• Collaborate with project manager on forecasting monthly software consulting projections.
• Act as the point person managing annual support and SAAS subscriptions for all major product lines.
• Own, manage, and drive support and SAAS sales cycle.
• Devise new strategies to reduce churn and foster relationships with customers.
• Independently navigate customer specific needs for support renewals.
• Process software update block updates as needed.
• Assist sales staff by producing sales quotes.
• Resolve customer billing issues and ensure timely collection of invoice payments.
• Oversee electronic record storage and retention for finance department.
• Act as back up when administrators are out.
• Investigate accounting and tax issues as needed.
• Prepare ad hoc reports as needed.
