New York City Board of Elections Reprecincts with Maptitude for Precinct and Election Management

NEWTON MA (USA) - As they did ten years ago, the New York City Board of Elections is once again using Maptitude for Precinct and Election Management (Maptitude P&E) to redraw the city's 6,000 precincts. By using the "general purpose overlay" function, they were able to create a "super-precinct" layer in which each polygon contained only one Congressional, State Senate, State Assembly, City Council, and City Court district. They then used the redistricting tools to split up these super precincts into Election Districts (their term for precincts) with between 1050 and 1150 registered voters. With the new features in Maptitude P&E they were able to accomplish the work in a fraction of the allotted time. For more information on Maptitude P&E, please visit www.caliper.com/Precinct.
