Caliper is pleased to announce the release of TransModeler Version 8

NEWTON, MA (USA) - Caliper is pleased to announce the release of TransModeler 8. Version 8.0 surpasses prior versions and all other simulators in its support for simulation of signalized and multi-modal systems, makes key advances in scalable microsimulation and dynamic traffic assignment (DTA), and introduces new outputs and visualizations.

Version 8.0 expands and enhances a powerful suite of tools for modeling interactions between signals, pedestrians, bicycles, and public transportation in urban road networks, introducing:

• A powerful, interactive time-space diagram for coordinated systems with built-in offset optimization
• Support for mixed half-cycle lengths in corridor optimization
• The ability to explicitly define overlaps in signal timing plans in the same way they are defined in signal controllers, making it simpler to accommodate bike lane, bus, and pedestrian treatments and common signal timing designs such as those for diamond interchanges
• Integrated, faster-than-real-time software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulation interfacing with Q-Free MAXTIME and SWARCO Omni-eX traffic signal controllers and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) application programming interfaces (APIs) for all NEMA-TS2-compatible traffic signal controllers
• Productivity tools for migrating signal timing plans from one intersection to others
• More flexible configuration of bus operator policy, including the option to skip stops that have no waiting or alighting passengers
• Alternate pedestrian volume file formats to make it easy to import pedestrian counts from spreadsheets and other data formats
• Improved positioning and orientation of pedestrian crosswalks inside intersections of widely varying geometries

In addition, TransModeler 8 driver behavior models now better capture acceleration and lane-changing decisions in networks of ever-increasing complexity, including those with on-street parking lanes, bicycle lanes, bus lanes, and peak-period shoulder or HOV lanes.
