Caliper Announces New Release of TransCAD

NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS (USA) - Caliper Corporation announced today that it will be distributing a new version of TransCAD, its market leading transportation planning software, later this month. Release 3 of TransCAD 5 features the industry's fastest and most rapidly convergent traffic assignment models and introduces the most robust select link analysis available. Traffic assignment is used for determining the level of traffic on the links of the road network and is crucial for project impact assessment and congestion management. Select link analysis is used to determine who benefits from specific network improvements. The new and improved methods provided in TransCAD will make project impact analysis more accurate and reliable than ever before.

Caliper has also made the latest data from the American Community Survey 2008 3-year estimates, released last week by the U.S. Census Bureau, available for TransCAD users. The Caliper Transportation Profile is a set of 30 tables that are useful for transportation planning and analysis. The tables include "Means of Transportation to Work," "Sex of Workers by Travel Time to Work," "Tenure by Vehicles Available by Age of Householder," and "Median Household Income in the Past 12 Months (in 2008 Inflation-Adjusted Dollars)." The files are available for download free of charge to TransCAD users and are provided in TransCAD format, removing the burden of file import.
