In 2011-2012, the median waiting times for admission for elective surgery ranged from 27 days in Queensland to 63 days in the Australian Capital Territory. The longest (90th percentile) waiting times ranged from 147 days in Queensland to 348 days in Tasmania.
The proportion of patients who waited more than 365 days for admission differed substantially between states and territories. Overall, it ranged from 1.5% in South Australia to 9.4% in Tasmania.
