Maptitude is the best mapping software for business intelligence! Craft breweries are defined by the Brewers Association as independent breweries that produce less than 6 million barrels of beer per year using traditional or innovative brewing ingredients. Craft beer production in the United States has doubled in the last 10 years and now accounts for 18% of U.S. beer production. The map below shows craft beer production by state.
Vermont and Oregon, with their large number of craft breweries, are first and fifth in production respectively. Several larger regional craft brewers, such as Yuengling (PA), Alaskan (AK), New Belgian (CO), and Dogfish Head (DE) account for high production in their respective states. Conversely, several states with fairly large concentrations of craft breweries are dominated by microbreweries (fewer than 15,000 barrels per year) and thus have lower production levels such as Wyoming, Washington, South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska.
