Free Half-Day Training

The free half-day course covers materials valuable to both new and existing users of Maptitude for Redistricting. Topics include:

• Create new plans interactively
• Import plans from an equivalency file
• Identify plan irregularities, including unassigned geography, non-contiguous districts, and districts that do not meet legal requirements
• Compare plan demographics and boundaries
• Create maps and reports to easily disseminate critical plan information

Three-Day In-Depth Training

The $1,500 three-day course covers all of the redistricting features of the software:

Day 1

• Learn the basics of Maptitude for Redistricting
• Learn how to use the Plan Manager
• Create a redistricting plan from a map
• Learn about redistricting windows and tools
• Review plan integrity by finding unassigned areas and non-contiguous areas
• Getting information using labels and the hover tool
• Visualize your data using thematic tools
• Add imagery backgrounds to your maps such as USGS aerial photos & topographic tiles

Day 2

• Create plan templates that remember all plan settings without district assignments
• Create communities of interest and include communities created by others
• Present your data using report layouts
• Create reports on redistricting plans and create sets of reports
• Evaluate travel contiguity for a plan
• Identify majority minority districts and evaluate compliance
• Locate incumbents by address
• Customize the name of layers
• Include incumbents in your plan and check to see if they remain inside their district
• Learn how to create labels with multiple lines of information
• Export plans to share as equivalency files and shapefiles

Day 3

• Create a new plan from an existing plan
• Learn how to automatically balance adjacent districts
• Create sets of plans to easily compare plan differences for the same geographic location
• Compare plans for the same geographic area
• Create what-if scenarios within the same plan
• Change information for multiple districts at one time
• Merge plans into a master plan
• Add political data by disaggregating and aggregating political data to plan layers
• Perform ensemble analysis on a plan
• Use the automated assistant to balance the population of districts

Custom Virtual Training:

Caliper also offers customized virtual training, where the lessons are structured to meet your exact needs and are based on your data. The price for custom virtual training is $4000 for 6-hours with up to 10 attendees. Courses are delivered in three 2-hour sessions and recorded so trainees can review them later.
