Advanced Service Area Analysis: No Limits on Rings or Origins

Need to understand your footprint? Maptitude now supports unlimited drive-time rings and multi-origin influence areas, making it easy to evaluate service territories, identify underserved areas, and plan future expansion.

How to do it:

1. Choose Edit>Preferences and open the Routing tab.
2. Increase the Maximum Time or Maximum Distance values to enable larger drive-time rings. You may need to click Reset before changing the Maximum Distance.
3. Increase the Maximum Origin Points value to enable more drive-time influence area origins.
4. Choose Tools>Routing & Directions>Drive-Time Rings to create drive-time rings up to the values you set in step 2 or choose Tools>Routing & Directions>Drive-Time Influence Areas to create influence areas for the number of origins that you set in step 2.

Share Clear, Detailed Route Results with Your Team

Transparency and accountability are built in. You can now export Excel route summaries that detail every stop, timestamp, distance, and cost breakdown. Share these with your team, clients, or stakeholders for quick understanding and easy reporting.

How to do it:

1. Choose Tools>Routing & Directions>Routing & Directions Manager and calculate a route with the Routing & Directions Manager.
2. Choose Export to Excel from the report drop-down.
   

Maptitude:

• Creates a “Route Details” sheet in the Excel report with explicit routes details such as Day, Time, Description, Turn, Compass, Distance, Time, Longitude, and Latitude.
• Creates a “Route Summary” sheet in the Excel report with totals for the entire trip such as Driving Distance, Trip Duration, Driving Time, and Total Cost.

Exclude Ferries or Specific Roads with Ease

Need routes that bypass ferries or avoid certain roads entirely? Maptitude 2025 adds valuable control with its Enable/Disable Links feature, letting you tailor routing to your real-world needs.

How to do it:

1. Optionally, create a selection set of the street features that you want to exclude. For example, you may want to select road segments that prohibit trucks or that have low overpasses.
2. Choose Tools>Routing & Directions>Routing & Directions Manager.
3. Open the Route Options dialog box and open the Exclude tab.
4. Check All Ferries to prevent ferry crossings and/or check Selected Links and choose the set that includes the features to exclude that you created in step 1.
5. Click OK and calculate a route with the Routing & Directions Manager.

When you're ready to reset, simply uncheck both boxes to compute routes that use all links and ferries.

Reduce Idle Time to Serve More Customers in Less Time

Time spent idling is time wasted. Our enhanced tools help you minimize vehicle downtime, cutting labor costs while improving fleet utilization. Whether managing a local service crew or a multi-state delivery operation, Maptitude ensures every vehicle is working at its best.

How to do it:

1. Open your map with the vehicle depots and delivery points you want to route between.
2. Choose Tools > Routing & Directions > Routing Deliveries & Pickups.
3. In the “Options” step in the Wizard, choose Minimize vehicle idle time. Total trip time in Maptitude will now also account for a vehicle’s waiting period at the depot before starting a trip. This ensures the routing procedure prioritizes reducing idle time across all trips, rather than only optimizing driving and stop-service times.

For example, if your drivers are paid for the entire shift from the moment a vehicle becomes available (including time spent idle before leaving the depot), factoring idle time into the route calculation can reduce overall labor costs and improve fleet utilization. On the other hand, if idle time is irrelevant to your costs or operations (e.g., you only pay per mile driven), then you may not need to include it in the optimization.

Plan Routes with Cost Precision and Keep Profits on Track

Maptitude 2025 lets you model per-mile or per-hour costs for your fleet, making it easy to account for fuel, labor, and even specialized operating expenses like refrigerated ("reefer") transport. This means you can optimize routes with profitability in mind not just distance.

How to do it:

1. Open your map with the vehicle depots and delivery points you want to use for routing.
2. Choose Tools > Routing & Directions > Routing Deliveries & Pickups.
3. In the “Driving” step in the Wizard, in the Cost section, you can choose between Cost on driving distance or Cost on driving time. Maptitude will include these costs when calculating routes.
