For National Disc Golf Day (First Saturday in August) we mapped Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) data by state. There are over 7800 disc golf courses with nine or more holes in the United States. Texas (514) has the most, followed by California (356), Michigan (354), Wisconsin (353), and Minnesota (342).

However, when you look at the density of courses based on land area, the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Southern New England have the highest concentrations, with Connecticut (8.5), Massachusetts (8.5), Ohio (7.7), and Delaware (7.2) having concentrations well above the national average of 2.2 courses per 1000 square miles.
