For National Bagel Day (January 15) we mapped almost 5,000 bagel stores nationwide (40% of which are in New York and New Jersey!) and computed the number of stores per 500,000 people in each state. The national average is 7.3 bagel stores per 500,000. The highest concentration of bagel stores can be found in New Jersey (47.19), New York (30.93), and Vermont (18.64).
