How do I enable the 3GB switch in Windows to make more memory available to 32-Bit Windows?

You may want to make more memory available by enabling the 3GB switch on your 32-bit version of the Windows 10 operating system. While the 3GB switch may be a useful tool that allows you to access more memory, it should be mentioned that not all Windows updates or hardware and graphics drivers work well, or at all, with the 3GB switch enabled. If you experience any unexpected or abnormal behavior with the 3GB switch enabled, we recommend that you disable it.

To enable the 3GB switch:

  1. Right-click on the Command Prompt icon in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
  2. At the command prompt, enter: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072
  3. Restart the computer.

To disable the 3GB switch:

  1. Right-click on the Command Prompt icon in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
  2. At the command prompt, enter: bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa
  3. Restart the computer.

Enabling more memory for your 32-bit device will improve the performance for your 32-bit version of Maptitude.
